Warnings & Precautions
Charging
- Charger Requirement: Use ONLY a computerized LiPo balance charger capable of handling 4S (14.8V) batteries.
- Correct Settings: Verify and set charger to: Battery Type: LiPo, Cell Count: 4S, Charge Current: ≤ 5.2A (1C recommended).
- Active Supervision: NEVER leave batteries charging unattended. Charge in a fire-safe location such as on a LiPo safety bag, ceramic tile, or in a Bat-Safe box.
- Balance Charge: ALWAYS connect the main lead AND the 4S balance plug for every charge cycle to ensure cell voltage equality.
- Terminate if Abnormal: Stop charging immediately if the battery becomes puffy, excessively hot (>50°C/122°F), emits an odor, or shows any physical damage.
Discharging
- Voltage Limits: NEVER discharge below 12.0V (3.0V per cell). NEVER charge above 16.8V (4.2V per cell).
- Temperature Management: Operate within -10°C to 60°C. For optimal lifespan, keep between 20°C and 45°C. Allow battery to cool to ambient temperature before charging.
- Physical Inspection: Do not use if the pack is swollen, punctured, leaking, or has damaged wires/connectors.
- Short Circuit Prevention: Always use insulating caps on connectors when not in use. Avoid contact between terminals with any conductive material.
- Environment: Protect from water, moisture, and direct exposure to sunlight or heat sources.
Storage
- Storage Charge Level: For storage exceeding 10 days, bring the battery to Storage Voltage (3.80V - 3.85V per cell / 15.2V - 15.4V total).
- Storage Location: Store in a cool, dry environment (10°C - 25°C / 50°F - 77°F ideal) inside a fireproof container or LiPo safety bag.
- Air Transportation: Due to its energy rating (<100Wh), it generally complies with common airline regulations for carry-on batteries. Always protect terminals from short circuits and check with the specific airline for current policies.
