Product Description
NiCd D5000mAh 1.2V High Energy Nickel Cadmium Rechargeable Flashlight Battery
Features & Benefits
- High Capacity & Energy Density: The 5000mAh rating provides extended runtimes for demanding devices like high-lumen flashlights.
-
Excellent High-Rate Discharge Performance: Low internal impedance allows it to deliver high currents efficiently, making it ideal for applications like powerful flashlights that require a lot of power quickly.
-
Wide Operating Temperature Range: Performs reliably in both extreme cold and hot environments, from -20°C to 60°C during discharge.
-
Long Cycle Life & Durability: Withstands over 500 charge-discharge cycles when maintained correctly, offering excellent economic value.
-
Robust Construction: Sealed metal container prevents electrolyte leakage and provides mechanical strength, making it resistant to physical abuse.
-
Rapid Charging Capability: Supports various charge rates, including a 1-hour fast charge with appropriate equipment.
-
Overcharge & Overdischarge Tolerance: More resilient to abusive conditions compared to some other battery chemistries.

Applications
- High-Performance Flashlights & Tactical Lights: Especially those requiring long runtime and high output.
-
Portable Lighting Systems: Emergency lights, searchlights, lanterns.
-
High-Drain Portable Devices: Electric toys, portable radios/audio equipment.
-
Professional and Consumer Electronics: Various devices requiring durable and reliable D-cell power.
Warnings & Precautions
Charging
- Standard Charge: 500 mA (0.1C) for 14-16 hours.
-
Quick Charge: 1500 mA (0.3C) for 4-6 hours. Monitor temperature.
-
Fast Charge: Up to 7500 mA (1.5C) for approximately 1 hour. Must use a charger with advanced termination methods (-ΔV, dT/dt, or timer control) to prevent overcharging and damage.
-
Charge Temperature: Charge between 0°C and 45°C (32°F to 113°F). Avoid charging in very cold or hot environments.
Discharging
- The nominal discharge cutoff voltage is typically 1.0V per cell.
-
Avoid deep discharge below this voltage whenever possible, especially for prolonged periods, as it can stress the battery.
Initial Use
- Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the battery.
Important Precautions
- Memory Effect: Ni-Cd batteries are susceptible to memory effect. If repeatedly recharged after only partial discharge, they may "remember" the reduced capacity. Prevention: Occasionally (e.g., every 10 cycles) perform a full discharge-cycle to minimize this effect.
-
Temperature Management: Do not charge batteries that are excessively hot or cold. Allow them to reach room temperature first. Never immerse a hot flashlight/battery in cold water.
-
Battery Orientation: When installing in a device, ensure the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals are aligned correctly. Incorrect installation can prevent operation and potentially cause damage.
-
Storage: For long-term storage (longer than a few months), store the battery in a cool, dry place, preferably at a low state of charge (around 40%). Storing them fully charged or fully discharged for extended periods can be detrimental. The recommended storage temperature is below 35°C (95°F).
-
Ventilation: Charge in a well-ventilated area. Although sealed, extreme overcharging could potentially cause venting.
-
Disposal: Nickel-Cadmium batteries contain toxic materials (Cadmium). DO NOT dispose of them with household waste. Recycle responsibly at designated battery recycling points.
-
Physical Damage: Do not crush, puncture, short-circuit, or dismantle the battery. This can lead to leakage, overheating, or rupture.
-
Immediately discontinue use if the battery shows signs of deformation, leakage, or unusual overheating.
